Cookies and local storage
Cookies are small pieces of data stored by the browser and sent to the relevant server in subsequent requests. localStorage is browser storage: the values we save there are not automatically sent to the server. Both technologies can hold preferences or device information.
The website does not integrate its own analytics or advertising tools. Fonts, gallery images and videos are hosted with the website. Instagram and LinkedIn are external links rather than embedded feeds.
Technical preference saved by the website
We save your Google Maps activation choice, the save date and the notice version in the localStorage entry vitae_privacy_preferences. This remembers and respects the preference without creating an advertising profile. It is a technical function for managing your choices and does not need separate consent for saving them.
The preference applies to this browser and device and is valid for 180 days after saving, unless you change it or clear the website’s data. On your next visit after that period, the website removes the expired choice. If you do not return to the website, the entry may remain in browser storage until the data is cleared. The preference does not automatically load the map on a return visit: you must still use the dedicated button to display it. If local storage is unavailable, the choice applies only to the current page.
Optional Google Maps
The Google Maps iframe is not loaded before your choice. If you activate it, the browser contacts Google, which may receive technical data and use its own cookies or identifiers. Consent concerns this optional feature; you can leave it blocked and still use the rest of the website and read VITAE’s address.
Google cookie types, names and lifetimes can depend on the service, browser and settings or an existing Google account. The provider’s pages explain their use and the controls available.
Change or withdraw your choice
Privacy preferences in the footer lets you withdraw map activation and restore the block. A displayed map is removed from the page. Withdrawal prevents further loading from this website; it does not automatically remove cookies on Google domains or data Google has already received.
You can also clear the website’s data or manage cookies in your browser settings. Use the provider’s controls to manage Google data as well. Clearing a local preference does not send Google an erasure request.
